Meet the Designer behind Lumen

Lucy’s foundation lies within textile design, having received an honours degree from DJCAD. This training continues to shape Lumen’s approach to fabric draping, visual storytelling and spatial design. A considered approach that moves beyond decoration, towards something altogether more intentional. 

Following graduation, Lucy moved into retail, founding and developing a fashion and interiors boutique. Here, she led the full creative direction from interior layout to trend forecasting, buying and visual merchandising. This refined an instinct for curation, tone and customer experience.

Lucy’s work later extended into project delivery, where alongside her husband, Lucy co-managed construction-based businesses in Scotland, gaining a practical understanding of logistics, project management and site delivery. That experience now supports the operational side of Lumen, ensuring installations are delivered with the attention to detail they require.

Most recently, Lucy worked within the Scottish events industry gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a team lead capacity, supporting a respected team in delivering projects with quiet efficiency. This offered a broader perspective on the industry as a whole and highlighted an opportunity within the Scottish market for a more design-led approach to event hire. To offer thoughtfully selected pieces that support the work of planners, stylists and florists, and to sit seamlessly alongside the existing talent within the industry.
